Adoption

Adoption is a very personal subject. And chances are if you actually take the time to read this whole blog, you will become offended. However, my intent is not to offend, but make people think and raise some questions in people's minds about adoption and maybe more so about the young people so many of our nation ignore.

If you ask most people they will tell you that adoption is a very noble and heroic thing. Most even will say they have a desire to adopt themselves. If you press these people as to why they have not followed through with their desires to adopt, the most common response is that it is too expensive. I used to use this excuse myself. But, then I learned about an awesome ministry in the state of Washington called Antioch Adoptions. Started as a ministry in a local church in Redman.

The members of the church wanted to give money to those families who wanted to adopt but couldn't afford it. And it has since exploded! I don't want to give a number of how many families Antioch has helped, cause I don't know, but I know they are helping us and many other families.

I realize that not everyone has a desire to bring another child into their family, however, I do not think that excuses anyone from looking after orphans. The Bible commands us Christians several times to look after them. I would say if you can't bring someone into your home, you are still commanded to look after the fatherless. Maybe that means giving to ministries such as Antioch, maybe that means supporting those you know who have adopted, maybe by baby sitting for them. I don't know how it would work for you exactly, but I know you are required to do something.

Before I finish let me just say the American church is failing this command! There are far more churches than there are kids that need to be adopted. If one family from every church in America would step up to the plate, we would not have this epidemic. I would encourage all of you to look at my links for Antioch Adoptions and The Northwest Adoption Exchange and then challenge you to not get involved somehow. Maybe you truely are not in a situation where you can't adopt one of these children. But, you can get involved. You can give, time and money in an effort to help these young ones or you can help spread the word.

These children need a loving home, they need to be rescued from a somewhat broken system of violence and lack of care both physical and emotional.

Please, starting today, help!
